British racing driver Guy Smith took the Bentley Continental GT3’s maiden victory on home soil, in the second round of the BlancPain World Endurance Championship at Silverstone last weekend. Read the race report here
Smith has been a Bentley works driver since 2001, taking the marque’s first victory for over 70 years at the prestigious Le Mans 24 hour endurance race in 2003, also taking second the following year with Audi.
The Continental GT3 programme marks Bentley’s return to racing, the team now run by Ford’s World Rally Championship partners M Sport, based in Cumbria. After a tough race, the Bentley was faced with having to pass the leading ART Grand Prix-run McLaren in the closing stages to take victory.
Only Motors presenter and fellow motorsport competitor Paul Woodford caught up with Guy the day after the race for an exclusive interview to reflect on this historic day for British motorsport.
